There are many factors that constitute a good design in ceramic product and tableware, which includes the shapes, colours, decorations and the quality of the workmanship. Among these there are also other criteria that contributes to a good design in ceramic especially in ceramic ‘studio’ area which is the interpretation and artistic potential of the handmade ceramic production.

 

This is the area that the final year students in industrial ceramic is focusing on. Every student will come out with a project that is not only a ‘problem based’ or ‘solution based’ design, but they also have to think of how they interpret the handmade ceramic production as well as to find in the artistic potential in their project that they can come out with.

Every individual student has chosen varieties of product mainly tableware that includes from breakfast set, dinnerware, table lamp and kitchenware. The process of designing will involve mainly the design thinking and also ideation to come out with not just a functional and practical ceramic product but also the aesthetique gualities that they can identify so that their project will be significance in within the context of Malaysian household.
